Preparing for Yom Kippur

At Shul: Be neat and well groomed. It is customary to wear white clothing if you are able. It is customary to wear non-leather shoes and belts. We will keep the sanctuary on the cool side because the rabbi and cantor are wearing liturgical robes that retain body heat. Therefore, bring a sweater, jacket or cozy scarf so you won’t be chilled.

Regarding food: Yom Kippur is a fast day, but not everyone should be fasting. If you are one who should not fast, bring you MEAT-FREE, not smelly, or too crunchy snacks/lunch in a labelled lunch bag along with your labelled beverage and stash them in one of the designated classrooms Before you enter the sanctuary.
