Get Involved
There are other ways of getting involved in the Temple Beth Sholom community beyond attending services.
Active participation during services
At Temple Beth Sholom, we encourage members to participate in services. The Ritual Committee, working with the Rabbi, has established some specific portions of the Shabbat services in which a member can directly participate.

-
Leading English or Hebrew readings of prayers.
-
Reading a section of the Torah portion (on Saturdays only).
-
Reading the Haftorah (also on Saturdays).
-
Deliver a Drash about the Haftorah
Sponsoring a Kiddush Lunch
By sponsoring Kiddush, you help foster a sense of community. You can sponsor a Kiddush to honor someone, remember someone, or to celebrate a simcha such as a wedding or birthday.

Please contact us to arrange this.
Volunteering
Tzedakah (charity), goes beyond making a monetary contribution; everyone should consider giving of their time and talent. As Rabbi Rosenstein says, “What we do here, brings honor to those who came before us and are no longer here.” Tikum Olam, allows us to save (heal) the world, one action at a time.
When members volunteer they are helping the Synagogue function by donating their priceless time and talents.
We need the help and skills of our members and ask them to consider participating in various ways:
-
Preparing and cleaning up after Kiddush lunch and special events
-
Maintaining a phone tree
-
Ushering during services
-
Giving rides to other people
-
Dropping off food to someone who is ill
-
Welcoming and mentoring new members
For those interested in participating in any of the above or have other ideas please contact our President, Craig Schlumbohm or Rabbi Rosenstein.
